Labradorite Sphere

This sphere is 56mm. Labradorite is a unique and beautiful mineral that is known for its iridescent colors. It is a plagioclase feldspar mineral that crystallizes in masses. The first discovery of Labradorite was made on the Isle of Paul near the Labrador Peninsula in Canada. The mineral is known for its flash of colors that can contain blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, and even purple. Unlike most stones, the color displayed from Labradorite does not come from light reflected from the surface of the mineral. Instead, the spectrum of colors that you are seeing is caused by light reflecting off of a twinning surface within the stone. The difference in colors depends on the type of twinning surface that the light is refracting off of.
